Carl Gibson Hill was born to Mr. Spencer Hill and Mrs. Mary Stephens Hill on July 14, 1940 in Robeson County, NC. He was the first born of twelve children.
Carl was nurtured in a loving Christian home and attended Antioch Baptist Church as a young man. He attended Proctorville High School in his adolescent years and worked on the farm until he landed a job in the tobacco market as a fork lift operator traveling from Fairmont to Tennessee.
Carl enjoyed many hobbies during his life such as fishing, bike riding traveling out of state, socializing with family and friends, especially his brothers who would frequently compete for the biggest catch. He was athletic in baseball, basketball, but not so much in track and field.’
Carl loved throwing a pole but not as much as he enjoyed a good healthy plate of the catch for the day and maybe a bowl of his nieces banana pudding to top it off.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Spencer Hill and Mrs. Mary S. Hill, three sisters, Glenda Faye Hill, Earnestine Rose Moore and Ruby Neal Thomas, four brothers, William Harrison Hill, Jasper Hill, Robert Hill and Larry Hill, one brother-in-law, James Edward Thomas, Sr.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Ronnie Hill and Henry Hill, both of Orrum, two grandsons, Patrick Hill (Amanda) and Derrick Hill, A granddaughter, LaChrisna Hill of Fairmont, NC, One great-granddaughter, Lyric Hill, one great-grandson, Christian Hill, a step-daughter, Evangelist Denna Livingston-Graham, three brothers, Jimmy Spencer Hill of Fairmont, NC; Lewis Allen Hill (Queen) of Proctorville, NC; Rev. Harry James Hill (Dr. Evelyn McDowell-Hill) of Killen, TX; one sister, Roslyn Faye Hill of Proctorville, NC; a special niece, Glenda Hill-Bethea and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
