Today we celebrate the life and memory of Billy Hill Sr., who took his peaceful rest on October 12, 2020.
Billy Hill Sr. was born on December 25, 1942 to the late Lucille Pickett. He was raised in Whiteville, NC, then later moved to Boston, MA. There he worked at Wiggleworth Machinery where he was a crane operator and painter, until he was unable to work.
Billy returned back to North Carolina in 1995. He was united in Marriage to Gwendolyn Rogers Hill. He enjoyed building woodcrafts and flea marketing with his wife. Billy grew a relationship with God. He would wake up every morning thanking God for another day. He loved Tasha Cobbs song Break Every Chain. Also he enjoyed listening to the Blues and Christmas music.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Pickett, three brothers, Raymond Pickett, Leroy Pickett and Antar Shakir; two sisters, Dorothy Pickett and Maxine Jenkins, Mother-in-law, Estalla Rogers, and stepson, Delano Townsend Jr.
He leaves to cherish, his wife, Gwendolyn Hill, two daughters, Lisa Daniels and Caroline Hardin (Eric); two sons, Steve Hill and Billy Hill Jr.; one stepdaughter, Delisha Townsend, seven grand kids, Valentine, Shequanda, Natasha, Brya, Sharaya, Elijah and Daveon; four great-grandkids, Olivia, Jaydalis, London and Ava, five sisters, Louise Garden, Linda Swinson, Mary Pickett, Ida Jones (Ricky) and Marie Demissiel (Tim) several brother-in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
