Alonza Williams; son, brother, cousin, husband, uncle, dad, grandfather and great-Grandfather
answered God’s call from labor to reward on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at home. A golden heart stopped
beating, hardworking hands at rest; God broke our hearts to prove that he only takes the best.
Alonza was born in Fairmont, NC to the late Wilson and Viola Williams on May 8, 1932.
He attended the Public Schools of Robeson County and made a life as a farmer in North Carolina and
South Carolina. He took pride in plowing the gardens of his family and friends and he loved a good
Western show. Alonza took pride in sharing family history to anyone willing to sit down and listen. We
often joked that he was “Ancestry.com”.
Although he is out of our physical sight, he will forever remain in the hearts and minds of his loving
family. He leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years Willie Mae Williams; three daughters; Irish Williams of
the home, Wanda Williams and Olivia (Roosevelt) Green of Chicago, Illinois, Five sons; Lawrence
Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Steve, Dallas, Robert and Tony all of Chicago, Illinois; 19 grandchildren, 28
great grandchildren, one brother in law Alfred Mitchell and a host of cousins and nieces.
