Mother Annie Thomas Tribute

Mother Annie Pearl Thomas was born on May 30, 1936, in Cordele, GA to the late Annie Bell       Belmont and the late Cleveland Belmont. She was the youngest of twenty one children.

Her young school days were achieved in Tifton, Ga. She was married at a young age to the late Eddie W. Thomas. She was a hard worker doing, almost anything that she could, to find her hands to do. Her husband passed at an early time after marriage, leaving her with four young children. Mother Thomas attended Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and enjoyed singing.

After the death of her husband in 1964, Mother Annie relocated to Paterson, N.J. where she attended Holy Tabernacle Of Jesus Christ Church, where she became the youth choir Mother President of the Adult Usher Board. She was later ordained as a Missionary and also worked along with the kitchen committee.

In 2003, Mother Thomas returned to the South and settled in Lumberton, NC where she resided until her passing. She loved country-living, especially being out doors. Working in the garden and tending to her ducks, chickens and her daughter-in-law's horses. She was a sweet woman and very real. She loved to pray and would give a word to anyone who would listen. She was the matriarch of the family, and all the family consulted her for wisdom. She loved cooking and eating her favorite meal was turnip and mustard greens, with a pan of cornbread and croaker fish. She loved going to church, and a faithful member of Lula’s Temple F.B.H. Church. She loved singing on the choir, Ushering, Teaching Sunday School, and Ministering to the Saints bringing the Word. She was appointed Church Mother in the year of 2012. Once you got to know her you loved her. She adopted many children and was a Mother to all.

Mother Thomas was preceded in death by her husband the late Eddie Thomas, her mother and father, Annie Bell Belmont and Cleveland Belmont, six sisters, fourteen brothers and one granddaughter.
