Kalani, Kendall, Josephina, Sophia Melvin Tribute

It is with sadness and sorrow to announce the official passing of Kalani, Kendall, Josephina and Sophia Melvin of Chadbourn. They transitioned from time to eternal rest on August 30, 2025.

Princess Kalani Rae Melvin graced the earth with her life on July 1, 2018, in Fayetteville, NC. Entrusted with this beautiful soul, Reagan Noelle Powers and Patrick Xavier Ellis-Melvin, accepted the assignment of caring for and loving Kalani. As a baby Kalani brought so much joy and happiness into the lives of her family and friends. She started school in Cumberland County and attended Columbus County Schools until August 30, 2025. She loved singing and doing gymnastics, playing Mine Craft with her sisters and her Daddy. As a baby she loved for her mom to sing to her, it soothed her spirit. Not long after Kalani graced us with her presence, she became a big sister.

Princess Kendall Xaiya Melvin graced the earth with her life on May 3, 2019. Kendall’s entrance into life was not without challenge, however her parents kept the faith, happily accepting the assignment, even as Reagan sacrificed herself to ensure the world could share the light, she radiated so brightly. Doing her baby dolls hair and basketball were two of her favorite things. She loved K-Pop Demon Hunter and was excited that her friends knew about the movie. She started school in Cumberland County and attended Columbus County Schools until August 30, 2025. Connected not only as sisters but in spirit as well.

These lights shined so bright that God saw fit to entrust their parents with yet another ray of sun.

Princess Josephina Renee’ Melvin graced the earth with her life on December 23, 2020. She spread joy and happiness in her family. She loved to create pizzas on her VR headset like her Grandaddy Ricky and Uncle Kendrick. In the quiet of the evening, she would ask, “Daddy, can you hold me now that all my sisters are sleep?” she would climb up in her daddy’s lap watching him play “Phasmophobia” Talking Sammie, John and Tripp through all the levels of the game. When asked, “Josie, what room is the ghost in?” she responded, “Me and my Daddy are looking.” On those nights they would fall asleep in their favorite gaming chair. The angels sent word back to heaven of the love and care being shown to these beautiful souls, then made the decision to send another light to guide us through this life.

Princess Sophia Nachelle Melvin graced the earth with her life on September 25, 2022. Once again, vigilantly watching over this beautiful soul who was born to be the leader, she often kept her sisters in line. Settling spats, calling for everyone to “STOP” when things got out of hand. While she wasn’t keeping order, she loved watching Frozen and Bluey.

They all loved to dance and sing. Spending days with their Grandma Pam, Grandma Mary and TT Rachelle playing dress-up. They loved having their hair done, styled by the village, including Grandaddy Ricky, getting dressed up for church or going to a party or just posing for pictures taken by the fireplace at their grandparents’ house. They also enjoyed accompanying Grandma Mary and Grandma Pam to the spot; they knew how to find a deal early. They loved going fishing with their Pe-Pa and chasing the animals at the farmhouse. They enjoyed attending vacation bible school, meeting new friends while settling into the community that embraced them. Inseparable in life, under the watchful eye of their older sister Winter, they brought so much love and life to family and friends and the communities they lived in. On Saturday August the 30, 2025, God needed his Angels back.

These beautiful souls were carried back into his bosom to rest from their assignments here on this earth. Though for those of us who are left, the time cut way too short.
