Gloria Wanda Nelson

     Gloria Wanda Nelson, age 84, was called home to be with the Lord peacefully on May 10, 2019 at 2:42 pm, with her family and friend by her side. Ms. Gloria was born on September 7,1934 to the late Thomas and Grace Russell as the fourth child of this union in Bayonne, NJ. She was married to the late James Nelson Jr. for over 50 years; from this union, seven children were born.

     Ms. Gloria dropped out of school to help her parents, but went back to get her G.E.D. She started working for, the Jersey City Board of ED. for over 40 years, as a Crossing Guard, thereafter working as a Control Engineer.                                                                                                                    

     She was a long time active member of Church of Incarnation, where she was on the Board of Directors, for several years.

     Her gift was, always willing to care for, and listen with an open mind and ear to everyone. Ms. Gloria's interest included the Love of her grandchildren, which included feeding the neighborhood children, she loved to see them smile.

     She was preceded in death by her children : Ronald Bradshaw, Richard McKoy, James Nelson, Chery! Gibson, Thomas Nelson (brother) Thomas Russell (sister) Harriet Bryant (grandson) Andre Nelson.

     She is survived by three children, Clifford Nelson of Jersey City, NJ, Sharon Nelson of Lumberton, NC and Tony Swinton of Bronx, NY, fourteen grandchildren, Nineteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
