A Time To Be Born: Mrs. Rutherlean “Sister Barden” Foy of 507 Phillips Street, Fairmont, North Carolina, daughter of the late Needham and Rachel Floyd Barden, was born October 7, 1932 in Robeson County.
A Time To Love: In 1954, at the age of 21, she married Mr. Solomon Davis “S. D.” Foy. No children were born to this union.
A Time To Plant: At an early age, she joined The Star Of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Rosenwald School. She later moved to Montgomery, Alabama where she did domestic work. She returned home in 1974. In 1981, she was hired by the Gaston Sealey Company to do domestic work for Fitzhugh Sealey until 2001. In 2002, she started attending “The Star” faithfully until her health failed.
A Time To Die: Mrs. Rutherlean “Sister Barden” Foy departed this life peacefully on April 21, 2019, after a brief illness.
A Time To Mourn: She was preceded in death by her parents(Needham and Rachel Floyd Barden); her three older siblings(Mrs. Dorothy Barden Mack “Aunt Dorothy”, Needham Barden, Jr., and Roseanna Barden Chavis); three nephews (Charlie Foster Barden, Theodore “Bud” Barden, and Ricky C. Mack); and a niece (Dorothy Marie “Dot Marie” Brown).
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mrs. Angelon Thompson (home care provider) of Fairmont, N.C.; six grandchildren: Denita L. Foy-McEachern of Lumberton, N.C., Johnny Thompson (Diane) of Lumberton, N.C., Jeffrey Thompson of Fairmont, N.C., Corey Thompson (Andrea “AJ”) of Virginia Beach, Va., Micheal Thompson (primary care provider) of Fairmont, N.C., and Donte’ J. Thompson of Hope Mills, N.C.; thirteen Great-grandchildren: JaCoya, Erroll, Elijah, Corey “Reyte’, Raven, Xavier, Ahlyse, Mya, MyKelen, Camren, Alexandrea, Camil, and Dayvin; two Great-great grandchildren Nalah and JaCarley; a Niece: Debra Callahan (Michael) of Country Club Hills, Illinois; two Great-nieces: Cyclethia “Renee” Jones and Chandra “Chank” Currie (care provider); one “Honorary Grandson” Richard “Rick” Thompson; close neighbors Mrs. Viola Roberts Graham and Sally K.Pittman; and other family and friends!
