Ms. Betty Thompson was born on August 27, 1953 to the late Mattie Melvin and Thurman Grissett in Mullins, SC. She departed this life on October 17, 2019 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, NC.
She was educated in Fairmont City Schools. Later in Life she married the late William Thompson. She became employed with Columbus County School System where she labored for many years. Seeking to put God first in her life she became a devoted member at Turner Station AME Church. There she faithfully served in several departments, including Pastors Aide and the Culinary Department where she loved just to name a few.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Tanya Thompson of Fairmont, NC and Jennifer Thompson of Dublin, NC, two sons, Brian Thompson of Fairmont, NC and Alex Thompson of Lumberton, NC, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, Willie James Melvin of Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Christeen Pinkney of Mobile, Alabama and Clara McGill of Charlotte, NC, one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Floyd, one sister-in-law, Dorothy Melvin and a host of nieces and nephews
