Mr. Mavis Larue Singletary, 87, of Lumberton, passed away on July 28, 2018, at Highland Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Mavis Larue Singletary was born July 02, 1931 to the late Lonnie W. and Mamie F. Singletary in Bladenboro, NC.. He was the youngest of four children.
He graduated from Spaulding Monroe High School in Bladenboro NC and was a veteran of the Korean War. Professionally he was an insurance agent, an entrepreneur and funeral service attendant.
Mavis Singletary was married to the late Emma McDowell Singletary.
He was a member of Bryant Swamp Baptist Church in Bladenboro NC where he was baptized at an early age. He often attended First Baptist Church in Lumberton NC.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Wilson and Robert Singletary, his sister, Rossie S. McNeill and his son, Derrick Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his dear and precious memories two sons, Kevin Marshall of Atlanta, GA and Kenneth E. Jones of Lumberton NC; his extended family,Terri Huggins and Tammi Lenoir, grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sister in laws, Pearlie Thompson of Lumberton NC and Pauline Singletary of Sterling, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, dear cousins and friends.
