James Ray Jones was born on June 22, 1964 in Bladen County, North Carolina. He departed this life on May 22, 2018 in Lumberton, North Carolina.
Ray, as those who loved him knew him best, was a graduate of Bladenboro High School. If you knew James you know he LOVED to fish and hunt. He also knew his way around the kitchen (ever had his fried chicken?) He was a fan of sports, football being his favorite...die hard Buffalo Bills fan! Another favorite pastime of his included playing chess...and rightfully so...he was a genius at it. Riding dirt bikes, cutting “donuts” on four wheelers, or "popping wheelies" on his motorcycles were not out of the ordinary. Out of all the things he adored he treasured his family the MOST. He always had a joke to tell and there was never one conversation where you did not laugh. He carried the heartiest laugh that you could ever hear. And had “jaws” for days. Fortunately for the rest of world, all of his children possess his wittiness! He lived his best life and fought his best fight. And for that we can only be grateful. Now may he rest while we rejoice and be a resemblance of his strength.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ida Jane & Robert Lee Jones Sr., a brother, Robert Lee Jones Jr. and two sisters, Debra Ann Covington and Thelma Lee Jones.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Veronica Hall Jones, his daughters, Jessica Bellamy (Legrant} of Clarendon, NC.
