Andre Lavon Townsend was born on December 13, 1961 to the late Roosevelt and Reva Townsend. He departed this life on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
Andre received his education at Orrum High School and graduated in 1980. Andre was a very gifted and talented painter. He has been painting for over 25 years and continued to work as a painter until his health declined. Andre was affectionately known as “Boo Boo” or “Uncle Boo” to many. He loved his family so much and looked forward to driving to Orrum every year in July for reunions. Attending family reunions was an epic part of his life.
He was preceded in death by three brothers James Townsend, Levester Townsend, Daniel Winningham and Kitty Winningham of Newark, NJ.
He is survived by three sisters, Laruth Black of Brooklyn, NY, (Linwood), Shirley Pittman of Lumberton, NC, Evonne McGee of Fairmont, NC (Ronnie) and brother Larry D. Townsend of Lumberton, seven aunts: Anna Margaret Townsend of Fairmont, Ernestine Townsend of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Genora Richardson of Hackensack, NJ, Effie Lee Townsend of Lumberton, NC, two uncles Andrew and Leviod.
Marion Townsend of Maryland, Vermell Barrett of Orrum, NC, Loistene Winningham of Orrum NC, Levoid Townsend of Fairmont, Andrew Winningham of Miami, Florida. He also has nine nephews, eight nieces, eight great nieces, six great nephews, two great-great nieces, and four great-great nephews. A special niece and his caregiver as he called his daughter Jenesia Shannon (Sammy) of Charlotte, NC. A special cousin Dennis French and special friend Nicky Love.
