Harrison Love, 92, of Fairmont passed away June 22, 2019.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness..” II Timothy 2:4
Mr. Harrison Love, the son of the late Mr. Angus and Mrs. Lera Love was born April 22, 1927 in Fairmont NC. On Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Lumberton Health and Rehabilitation, Harrison went home to be with the Lord.
Harrison was raised on a farm and received his formal education at Rosenwald High School. Later on in life Harrison would meet and marry his beloved wife for over 65 years Mary Ethel. To this union five children were born. Harrison worked as a farm laborer before moving to New York to make a better life for his wife and children. During his time in New York Harrison was employed as an elevator operator for the Southern Bell Company. Years later, Harrison retired and return home to the “quiet life”. Harrison had many interests such as politics, the happenings in town and Robeson County but nothing compared to his love for baseball. Anyone that knew Harrison knew his love for the game as well as him being a huge New York Mets fan. Along with these interests, Harrison enjoyed family gatherings and road trips. He was always ready to ride. His gentle, humble, spirit always had a way of changing the atmosphere wherever he went.
Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Harry, three brothers: Memory, Milton, and Lenwood; two sisters: Rosa Chandler and Hettie Stone.
Harrison will forever be remembered by his loving and devoted wife Mary Love of the home; three sons: Gregory Love (Mae); Jeffrey Love (Lola), Jerry Love; a daughter: Fay Donaldson (Lamont); two sisters: Elsie Ford and Doris Sealy; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and host of other family and friends and special friends Robin Pemberton and Tray Sanderson.
