Dr. Mary Cutler Tribute

We were Blessed February 24, 1945 when unto the late Bishop Ernest J. Hinton and Pastor Mary S. Hinton, in Washington D.C. DR. MARY HINTON-CUTLER was born. Dr. Cutler was God’s child who began her education in the Washington, D.C. public school system graduating from Wildwood High School in Wildwood , New Jersey. Young Mary was called to the service of the Lord throughout her life. Upon adulthood she studied Theology at Shaw University School of Divinity and American Bible College, Communication at University of North Carolina. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Special Education at Antioch University in Pennsylvania and her Doctoral Degree of Philosophy in Christian Education from Amora Deliverance Theological Institution in Fayetteville, NC., Dr. Cutler was licensed as an Evangelist and ordained as a minister. Dr. Cutler’s gift to the world was her ability to connect with people especially youth. These God anointed skills were utilized at her membership with First Church of Love, Faith and Deliverance, under the adoring leadership of the late Overseer Rosie J. Wallace Brown in 1965. Working at this spiritual beacon of North Philadelphia Dr. Cutler was able to spread God’s discipleship as she served on the Ministers Board and the Youth Department Sunday School staff and Church Choir. Dr. Cutler later relocated to North Carolina where she joined the Mt. Calvary Word of Faith Church under the Direction of Pastor Shirley Caesar Williams, in Raleigh, N.C. She was a faithful member of the Ministers Board, Jr. Church Pastor and Choir member for 10 years. She later was lead to Faith Tabernacle Church of St. Pauls, N.C. and served on the Ministers Board and Summer School teaching staff, for 10 years. God saw fit to guide her to the Greater McKoy Chapel Inc. in Dublin, N.C. under the leadership of Dr. Delora Lesane, serving once again on the Ministers Board, GMC Choir, Youth Department as well as a Sunday School Teacher for the Toddler Class. To teach the young and to sing were her joys which filled her cup. There was an overflow which allowed us to see her authoritative yet loving demeanor. These wonderful characteristics showed us a diligence and devotion to serving her God. Dr. Cutler worked several years as a Governess for Mr. & Mrs. William Bundy, Secretary of State under the administration of President John F. Kennedy. Other employment opportunities included serving as a correctional officer and a psychiatric assistant. Dr. Mary Hinton- Cutler was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Warner E. Cutler, Sr. December 20, 1985. To this union 19 children were united and raised as one loving family. In Warner she found a soul mate of patience, kindness and joy. Dr. Cutler was the heart and soul of her family with an incredibly loving, nurturing and giving spirit. She was also a key inspiration, role model and change agent in all that she has done. Greatly admired by her colleagues and mentees she was hailed as an unsung leader and hero in her areas of expertise touching thousands with her empowering and inspirational approach to personal and organizational change.
