Life is like a stage and we all must play our part. Bernice played her part with dignity and grace.
She was born on December 16, 1939 and departed this life on Au- gust 11, 2019. She was born to the late Melvin and Josephine Bur- nette.
She received her formal education from Orrum High School in Or- rum, NC. She later continued her training in New York and received several certificates.
Bernice worked for many years for the probation department in NYC. She retired from this position to care for her mother in Orrum. She later stated working as a healthcare provider. She specialized working with geriatric patients.
Bernice had a very strong sense of community. She visited the sick ad always helped others with a smile. She loved her family and al- ways made sure they knew it. Whenever ending a conversation her words were always “ I love you.” She really believed in the saying love others as you love yourself. This is the testimony she leaves to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted member of The Church of Christ in Lumberton for over twenty years.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Burnette, siblings, Sarah, Beatrice, William, Catherine, Flossie, Ernest, Franklin, Ro- chelle, and Hollis.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter, Barbara Burnette of NY; two granddaughters, Kevina Eichelberger of NY; and Arikka Noid (Tyrell Cromwell) and a great-grandson Caleb Noid of Bladen County, NC. Bernice also leaves to mourn a host of niece, nephews, cousins, and friends.
