Mr. Willie Jackson, 89 of St. Pauls transitioned from time to eternal Paradise on April 6, 2024.
Willie Jackson was born in Mt. Carmel, South Carolina on September 8, 1934.
At an early age he moved to Covington, Kentucky. He and his mother later moved to Brooklyn, New York. He was drafted into the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge. He was recruited to train as a Tuskegee Airman. He earned his wings and became a radio operator. He also served as a flight instructor and an electric and communications specialist. He retired after 43 years. Willie returned to New York and found a position with the MTA, New York City Transit for 8 years. He left the MTA and joined the NYC Fire Department where he received several citations. Willie retired in 1975. After retirement he applied for a position with the NY State Department of Social Services as a Fire Safety Inspector. He retired from that position in 1994. Willie volunteered to do community service with 369th Veterans’ Association. He became very active in the organization. Willie served as the president of the Bronx District. He was the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Willie received many awards and citations from the U.S. Air Force, one was for flying 16,000 hours with the U.S. Air Force Reserve. The highest honor he received was the Saudi Arabia medal for service from 1989-1991.
Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, who passed away in 2006. his daughter, Sandra and son, Charles and a grandchild.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his 3 sons, Michael, Mike and Robert, his sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and in-laws, nieces nephews cousins and other relatives and friends.
