Mr. Eldry J. Thompson better known as Pappy was born on August 8, 1948 to the late Eldry Thompson Sr. and the late Rosetta Floyd Thompson. He passed away on August 9, 2016 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, NC.
He was raised by his grandparents the late Alvin Floyd and the late Mary Burns Floyd. Eldry attended school at Rosenwald and he became a Vietnam veteran. He was a people person and he did not meet any strangers. He liked the enjoyment of a good time and hanging out with his friends. He loved sports, especially baseball.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Eldry Thompson, Sr., his mother, Rosetta Floyd Thompson, both grandparents, Alvin Floyd and Mary Burns Floyd, Uncles, Bo Floyd, Hubert Floyd, Sang Thompson, Buddy Burns and Clayton Floyd, aunts, Ernestine Thompson and Corinne George, a daughter who he raised like his own, Renee Jones and a sister, Reta Thompson Powell.
He leaves his cherished memories to his wife, Alberter Thompson of the home, a son, Rodney Eldry Orlando Thompson of Fairmont, NC, a daughter, Ophelia Rosetta Thompson of Lumberton, NC, two daughters that he raised as his own, Felicia Jones Jacques (Patrick) of Fayetteville, NC and LaTonia “Tammy” Jones of Lumberton, NC; two step-sons, Albert Thompson of Brooklyn, New York and Anthony Thompson of Bronx, New York, three brothers, Perrie Thompson and Wendell Thompson of Fairmont, NC and Michael Mason of Bridgeport, CT, a sister, Angenetta Leonard (James) of Fairmont, NC; two special cousins in which he loved like brothers, Alexander Thompson and LaMorris Thompson both of Dillon, SC, ten grandchildren, Trinaty, Marqis, Nytasia, Reyana, Jayla, Saquaia, Sherea, Shenea, Christopher and Amber, a very special lady in which he loved like a mother, Ms. Earlene Currie of Fairmont, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
